FAQ
- Will the wind blow the wok around?
The wok weighs 20 kg (14 kg in the patio version). It should not move under normal weather conditions. We do offer an additional “storm strap” chain for the Capetonians.
- How much weight can it hold?
We have placed up to 70 kg into the wok. It did not fail, but I wouldn’t recommend putting more than 40 kg into the wok at any one time.
Yes, eventually it will rust where the coatings have been scraped and burned off. The first part that will begin to corrode will be the base of the wok where the fire always sits. It will, however, take at least 7 years to rust through the wok. This timeline could be extended by simply looking after your Fatboy Fire. We offer a recoating service, please refer to your warranty.
- What if I bend the legs/neck?
Provided you are using the Fatboy Fire for what it was intended, it will not bend. We will replace any component that fails within 3 years, for free (excluding P&P). After 3 years, please contact us to discuss.
- If I stand on the side of the braai, will it fall over?
Um, if you stand on the side of your kettle braai, will IT fall over? The Fatboy Fire is designed as a fireplace and braai, not a jungle gym.
- Will it burn my grass underneath?
It will brown your grass after repeated use in the same spot. You can raise the height above ground of your Fatboy wok as it suits you, simply by hooking the chains on a different chain link.
- What tools do I need to assemble my Fatboy Fire?
Fatboy Fire requires 2 x 17mm ring spanners, or an adjustable wrench, or pliers, or a leatherman.. the bolts are lightly tightened, so no need for fancy spanners.
Patio Fatboy Fire requires 2 x 13mm ring spanners… or as per above.
- My clothes get dirty when braaiing, is there anything I can do about it?
Buy yourself a Fatboy Fire Apron… that should do the trick!
- How expensive is it to get my Fatboy to Las Vegas?
Simply take it on the plane with you, and pay the additional weight… most economical way!
